The Importance of Periodic Maintenance in Hydraulic Crane Systems

Hydraulic crane systems carry a significant responsibility in terms of occupational safety because they require high power and carry heavy loads. The slightest malfunction or negligence can jeopardize both human life and the continuity of the business. Therefore, both compliance with safety standards during production and regular maintenance and inspection processes are of great importance.

Why is Safety So Important?

Because cranes systems carry the following risks:

  • Risk of tipping over in case of overload
  • System loss due to hydraulic fluid leakage
  • Loosening or breakage of mechanical parts
  • Risk of collision/accident due to operator error
  • These risks can only be controlled with proper engineering, standard-compliant production, and periodic maintenance.

Standards to be Applied

At AKC Hydraulics, we ensure 100% compliance with the following standards in our production:

  • CE Certificate
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management
  • TS EN 13155 (Lifting Equipment Standard)
  • Machinery Safety Directive requirements
  • Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
  • Scope of Periodic Maintenance

It is recommended that crane systems be inspected every 6 months. Maintenance performed by the AKC service team includes the following:

  • Hydraulic hose inspection
  • Pressure Measurement of settings
  • Cylinder and piston seal check
  • Electrical and control system testing
  • Oil quality and leakage check
  • Operator safety equipment review

Operator Training and Responsibilities

Safe crane operation is directly related to not only the machine's training but also the operator's training. AKC also provides support to its customers with operator training and operating instructions.
